Event description

The role of public health law in ending an epidemicIn recognizing national non-smoking week, the Sixth Estate examines vaping as an alternative to cigarette smoking.  Governments around the world are grappling with this issue.  Some countries like the United Kingdom have moved to embrace electronic cigarettes as an effective alternative to smoking. Meanwhile, according to The Economist Brazil, Singapore and Thailand have made e-cigarettes a prohibited product.  And while the CBC reported last year that smoking rates in Canada are declining, the percentage of Canadians who continue to smoke age 12 and over is 17.7% or just over 5 million people.

On January 23, join renowned Canadian political journalist, Susan Delacourt as she sits down with a cross section of experts who argue the merits of vaping as an alternative to cigarette smoke, to understand if vaping is really an option.

Registration and luncheon is free but seating is limited.
