Ottawa
National Arts Centre, 1 Elgin St.
On March 21 and just after the budget release, join host Catherine Clark and special guest host David Akin as they examine Canada’s investment climate and are we continuing to be competitive? On the show we hear from business interests, academic perspectives and government on what is being done and what we need to be doing.
According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) 2018 World Investment Report, Canada was the 15th destination for foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world in 2017, losing 3 places compared to the previous year. Canada attracted USD 24.2 billion of FDI in 2017, a decrease of 35% compared to 2016, higher than the global trend (-23%). Inflows to Canada dropped substantially in recent years because of the primary sector crisis and reduced loans between companies, especially in the energy and mining sector, and divestments in oil sands assets.

BEFORE THE BELL AND COVID-19
Before the Bell will be returning only after the green light has been given by our Public Health experts. The issues we cover are important but not as important as our collective health. Once we are on the other side of this, we will return our attention to the intersection of issues and public policy. But for now I hope every will stay healthy and safe!
Sincerely,
Andrew Beattie
