Sylvia is a Partner in the Risk Consulting practice and the Canadian Digital Privacy & Compliance Leader at KPMG Canada.
Sylvia has over 15 years’ experience providing strategic, privacy risk management and compliance advisory services. She advises executive teams on data-driven digital strategies to support major business transformations in alignment with new regulations, policy and governance trends, having successfully deployed national data registries and digital banking technologies.
Her specialty is transforming existing corporate compliance and privacy programs in response to internal audits, regulatory findings and exams. She often deals with banking regulators and Privacy Commissioners remediating compliance orders, and has advised on some of the largest, high-profile data breach investigations.
She developed and launched the Privacy by Design Certification Program with Ryerson’s Privacy Centre of Excellence in preparation for the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), having certified global organizations against privacy by design to satisfy regulators as proof of compliance.
Sylvia holds a BA Honours from York University and LLB, Business Law from the University of Ottawa.
