Guy Freedman

Guy is the president and senior partner of the First Peoples Group, a 100% Indigenous-owned and operated consulting firm. A fifth-generation Métis from Flin Flon, Manitoba, he remains closely connected to his community. He is dedicated to the revival, renaissance and resurgence of First Nations, Métis and Inuit cultures through the arts, media and business, and is a thought leader on contemporary Indigenous issues.

Guy is a former senior advisor (reconciliation) for the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada. He assisted the Commission in developing the conversation around reconciliation with Canadians. He is a member of the board of directors of the Ontario government’s Champlain Local Health Integration Network and a member of the Standing Indigenous Advisory Committee of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights.

Guy is also a talented facilitator and moderator, trainer, keynote speaker and writer. Saskatchewan’s Gabriel Dumont Institute published his first book of poetry, Little Athapapuskow, a Métis Love Story, in 2017. He carries and honours his Ojibwe Spirit Names Kwingogwaági Pizhew (Wolverine Star Lynx) and is a member the Lynx Clan.
